Anthem Blue Cross Insurance Company was recently investigated by the US Justice Department and caught in the midst of fraudulent activity.
Health insurance investigator, Gary Jizmejian and physician Roshanak Khadem have been charged $20 million in health fraud. They had a team of people, including 2 others: Marina Sarkisyan, the office manager, Lucine Ilangezyan in the billing department.
Together they submitted false health insurance claims that covered procedures including, laser hair removal, facials, Botox, and other cosmetic surgeries. They reported to have claimed $20 million dollars worth to individuals, but only $8 million was paid out by Blue Cross Insurance. The rest the criminals kept for their own profit.
This is not the first time that Gary has faced these allegations. Gary is the former senior investigator at Anthem. He was asked to step down when he was caught compromising the insurance billing codes.
Gary shared the billing codes to Roshanak Khadem in return for cash. Their system was under wraps with the clinic until other insurance companies were involved.
The charges have been filed on several counts for conspiracy of committing health care fraud. Each person involved in the scheme is facing a minimum of 10 years imprisonment.
